Julie Podstolski
In Residence on the verandahs at Donnelly River Village
19-24 June 2022
Since graduating from art school (University of Canterbury, New Zealand – Diploma of Fine Arts 1978-80) I have been making art all my life. In the mid-90s I swapped oil-painting for coloured pencils. I hold exhibitions every couple of years at Earlywork and am currently building up a new collection of work for the exhibition “Home and Heart: Local Love Stories” scheduled for April 2023. My last few exhibitions focussed on distant exotic places; Kyoto, Paris and Venice. For the next show I am finding my inspiration right here at home. As well as this I am searching out small birds to draw. I love taking photos and the photos I take are the source material for my drawings. At Donnelly River I hope to use my new 150-600 mm zoom lens to capture images of small birds so that I may draw them.
